10th October - Waipu Coronation Hall
The Feelers Heartland Tour
The feelers are heading off
the usual path of “national tours” which
only visit the main centres to take their music to those
New Zealanders not necessarily on “the main trunk
line”.
The Heartland tour runs throughout October and early
November, and sees the feelers visit towns from Waipu
to Twizel, playing in the town halls and community centres
usually neglected by the modern music business.
The tour is an acknowledgment of the support the feelers
have always had from the length and breadth of New Zealand,
and the shows will be about connecting with the grass
roots in the provinces, which have always been an important
part of the band’s Audience.
The Heartland shows have been conceived as special events,
and to reflect this, the band has worked up an exclusive
set, with brand new arrangements of some of the feelers’
classics. Tailor-made for the more intimate environments
of the smaller venues, some of these special versions
utilise piano and strings – and it is promised
that these will be feelers performances unlike any others.
Apart from these never-to-be-repeated interpretations,
fans expecting the feelers’ more familiar full-powered
rock anthems will not be disappointed: the Heartland
shows will also include the energetic, full-power approach
that has won hearts and minds across the nation.
In the ten years since the multi-award winning group
emerged from their Christchurch hometown, eighteen of
the feelers’ singles have charted, with four of
those being number one smashes. The band has released
four albums -- all of which have hit the number one
spot in the New Zealand chart -- culminating in sales
of over quarter of a million.
